Leigh Ann McKinley, MA, APC
EMDR Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma, Anxiety, and Addiction Recovery
Leigh Ann McKinley works with teens, young adults, and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, and life transitions. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFS), two powerful approaches that help clients process difficult experiences, reduce emotional distress, and better understand the patterns that shape their thoughts, emotions, and relationships.

Leigh Ann earned her Master’s degree in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, where she developed a holistic, experiential approach to therapy that integrates mind, body, and emotional awareness. Her work helps clients build greater self-understanding, emotional balance, and healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.
More about Leigh Ann
Leigh Ann’s therapeutic work is grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS), a model that helps clients explore the different “parts” of themselves with curiosity and compassion. Through IFS, clients learn to understand their internal experiences, reduce self-judgment, and cultivate a stronger sense of inner clarity, stability, and self-leadership.

She is also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence-based trauma therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they no longer carry the same emotional intensity. EMDR can be particularly helpful for individuals struggling with trauma, anxiety, and recurring emotional patterns that feel difficult to shift.

Leigh Ann integrates IFS and EMDR with elements of Gestalt therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, mindfulness practices, and depth-oriented therapy, allowing her to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs and goals.

Her sessions often combine traditional talk therapy with experiential techniques such as visualization, parts work, mindfulness, and body awareness to help clients connect more deeply with their emotions, sensations, and inner experiences.

Leigh Ann strives to create a safe, warm, and non-judgmental therapeutic environment where clients feel supported in exploring their authentic selves. Her work empowers clients to gain insight, build resilience, and discover new pathways toward healing, growth, and meaningful change.

Leigh Ann is under the clinical supervision of Kirsten Banks, LPC, CPCS, CAI, CIP.
