Children, Teens, & Young Adults

At TRN, we work with the whole family for healing and change. This includes children, teens, and young adults. Whether they are struggling with anxiety, OCD, life challenges or addictions, our experienced clinicians are here to help.

Youth Counseling

Counseling for children, teens/tweens and young adults is intended to help children 6 – 17 (and young adults 18+) learn to manage the stressors and pressures of their environment. Together, we will identify the reasons behind your child, teen, or young adult’s emotional struggles and create a plan to help your child fulfill their full potential.

Alongside your efforts as a parent, counseling can offer support to young individuals—and just as importantly—teach them to understand themselves better, while learning how to express their emotions, make healthy decisions, and accomplish their goals.

What to expect

Usually, clients start off with weekly sessions; however, we can accommodate adolescents who need more in-depth help twice a week. Typically, counseling sessions continue for at least three months and up to one year. The exact duration of counseling depends on the complexity of your teen’s concerns, and we will discuss the recommended length of therapy in session. There are certain sessions parents and adolescents will attend together and other times where the parents and/or the adolescent will meet alone with the therapist. This allows our youth therapists to get an accurate picture of the problem and the entire family to reap the benefits of counseling.

For clients under 18 years of age we have a youth intake process. The first appointment is with the parent(s). The second intake appointment is with the child/teen and the parent(s). The third appointment is the child/teen’s first individual session.
