Heather McGinty, MA, BCCT

Heather McGinty received her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University. Heather is a very experienced therapist having completed all her required state licensure hours, is license eligible, and will be receiving her Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Georgia soon. In addition, she is a Board-Certified Christian Counselor (BCCT).

Heather enjoys working with all individuals ages 11+. She enjoys walking with her clients through most ages and stages of life. She has a passion for working with teens, adults, and couples helping them navigate the complexities of life. She has extensive training with middle - high school age youth. As a former athlete and coach, She is well versed in working with athletes and their needs.  Heather is especially skilled and has a gift in working with tweens, teens, and young adults with anxiety, depression, self-harm, and self-esteem issues. 

Heather uses specialized approaches with young women around body image, self-harm, and self-esteem. Also, with young men focusing on anger management skills. She uses a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Prepare-Enrich, and Family Systems.  


Heather works from a family systems perspective as her master’s degree is in Marriage and Family Therapy. She often incorporates the whole family healing by providing parent support and family therapy. Heather is trained in Prepare-Enrich, a premarital and marriage counseling approach for improving marriage relationships.  Thus, she enjoys working with couples of all backgrounds.


Heather has gained experience working in the Private Practice setting as well as the Public-School setting as a Community Based Therapist. Most recently, she has been working at a non-profit organization in their counseling center. In her undergraduate studies, Heather received her Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Kennesaw State University. Heather served as a Juvenile Probation Officer in Cherokee County for 4 years. 


Heather has a compassionate and friendly presence, which helps those who are hesitant to try therapy feel more comfortable and at ease. Heather is passionate about empowering her clients and their families to make positive changes that impact their lives and future. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, hiking and her favorite place to be is at the beach.


Heather is under the supervision of Kirsten Banks, LPC, CPCS, CAI, CIP.
