Steph is a master’s level intern and a certified professional coach (CPC). She is completing her master’s in counseling at the University of North Georgia in the addiction studies program. Steph works from a strengths-based, collaborative, internal family systems (IFS) framework. She believes in partnering with each client uniquely, as every healing journey is different. Steph sees her role as a counselor as both being a giant mirror to reflect your own beauty, diversity, and strength back to you and being a collaborative guide who walks with you as you navigate healing and growth in your life.
Steph’s background involves work with disordered eating, trauma, women’s issues, mindfulness and meditation, religious trauma (and embracing spirituality outside of religion), addictions, chronic illness, body image issues (through a health at every size [HAES] lens), and LGBTQ+ issues. She has a special interest in and passion for body-based therapeutic approaches that look at mental health from a holistic perspective and involve the body, spirit, and emotions alongside the mind.
Steph spent the first part of her career working as an editor and technical writer. Though she loves words and writing, Steph always found herself drawn to working with people. In 2018, she began training in various energy healing modalities, and in 2019, she went to the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching to become a certified professional coach. She enjoyed the work a lot but always found her clients desiring to go into deeper healing work. Because of that, Steph decided to go back to school to get her master’s in counseling with an emphasis in addictions counseling.
Steph was born in Chicago and raised in Maine and New York. She moved to Atlanta with her wife, Lindsey, in 2016 and has lived in Cumming since 2021. They absolutely love living in Georgia and can often be found sitting in a hammock by the lake together, hiking in the mountains, or hanging out on their back deck with their toy poodle, Bea. Steph loves to explore and travel (introvert style) to beautiful places, and she also loves to stay home and play rummikub with her sister/best friend who also lives in the area. She is currently learning Spanish, American Sign Language, and how to play the piano because she loves to learn.
Steph is under the supervision of Kirsten Banks, LPC, CPCS, CAI, CIP.
