Lindsay Dunbar, MS, LAPC, NCC

Therapist | Licensed Associate Professional Counselor

Lindsay is a EMDR trauma therapist. She is also trained in Flash technique, a new trauma protocol that can be used in critical incident crisis situations and with complex trauma. She also incorporates CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Polyvagal Theory and solution-focused modalities. Lindsay specializes in Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, women's issues, gender/sexuality issues (LGBTQIA+), and Addictions/Recovery. Lindsay is Bilingual in Spanish and sees clients age 15 and up.

Lindsay graduated with her Master’s of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University. She previously taught in the high school setting for ten years and received two bachelor’s degrees from Valdosta State University. She received a B.A. in Spanish and a B.S.Ed. in Foreign Language Ed. with a concentration in Spanish and courses in Women’s and gender studies. She is ESOL and Gifted certified. She studied abroad in Guadalajara, Mexico (2006) and Lima, Peru (2008). She began teaching in 2009 and left teaching in 2020 to pursue her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Lindsay completed her master’s level internship at Family Counseling Associates of North Georgia in Cumming, GA where she was the lead intern from May 2021 through July 2021 upon graduation. In 2021, Lindsay became a Nationally Certified Counselor.

She works with adolescents, young adults, couples, and parents. She is passionate about helping individuals and couples experience joy and discover hope in their personal lives. Thus, leading them on their journey to personal success. She enjoys working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. She is eager to help adolescents, young adults and parents navigate anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, trauma, grief, women’s issues, gender issues, sexual issues, minority issues, executive functioning issues and academic related issues as they search for tranquility in their home and social life. She is EMDR trained (2020).

Lindsay provides a variety of different therapeutic approaches when in session. She encourages her clients to take her on their “identity journey” on a path to self- discovery. She incorporates CBT, DBT, Solution-Focused, Client-Focused, ACT, EMDR, Narrative Theory and others in her sessions. Lindsay is bilingual in English and Spanish languages. She has served as an interpreter for the Trevor Project in the past and participated in 5k walks/races supporting Suicide Awareness.

Lindsay was born and adopted in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and raised in Johns Creek, Georgia. She attended Centennial High School in Roswell, GA and was a member of the soccer and volleyball teams. Lindsay currently resides in Cumming, GA with her family and four rescue dogs. She enjoys the outdoors, especially the beach. She loves to travel internationally, especially to Latin America. She immerses herself in Latin culture through travel, dancing, and attending concerts. She cheers for Atlanta United FC, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Atlanta Hawks. She enjoys watching stand-up comedy and action movies. Her fondest memory is rescuing sea turtles with her family at Amelia Island, Florida.
